Decluttering and Getting Organized

3 tips on decluttering and getting organized around your home and office.

Have you noticed that there is a lot of decluttering and organizing going on lately? Have you been bitten by the organization bug? The summer season is a great time to start organizing things around you and to make positive changes in your life. You want to get rid of anything you no longer need or use in your home or office. Donate or sell items that are still in good condition and throw out anything that is unusable.

This process is something you want to keep simple by starting with one area at a time. Don't try to organize everything at once. Breaking things down will help to make it less overwhelming and will help if you're having trouble with being motivated to get started.

Tip #1 - Create a plan & set goals

Decide what you need to accomplish and categorize by grouping similar tasks together. This will help you stay focused, motivated, and make the most of your time.

Tip #2 - Remove unwanted clutter & purge

Get rid of anything you don't need or use. This is important to do before trying to organize. We accumulate many things over the years, and you may not realize just how much stuff you have until you start cleaning.

"Separate what you're keeping, donating, or throwing away"

Tip #3 - Improve storage by giving everything a home

Take time to make sure there is a place for everything to live. This will help prevent clutter from building up again. Use shelves, cabinets, or other storage solutions to maximize your space. Label containers to keep things in order.

Decluttering and organizing take planning and effort.

Once you've completed all of this, develop a cleaning routine by scheduling regular cleaning sessions to maintain your space. It's okay to make adjustments to your organization system to make it more effective, as needed.
